"King" James went under surgery

A benign growth was silently living in "King" James' mouth as he was playing the playoffs. Now that the Cavs are out of the tournament, Lebron could finally go to the hospital and go under surgery. Now, he is safe, resting at home.

The Cleveland star had a five-hour surgery to remove a growth from near the right side of the jaw. And it all ended up ok.

An official voice from the Franchise announced that Lebron was aware of the condition since several months, but after receiving medical advice opted to delay surgery until the end of the season.

As we know, the Cavs were eliminated last week when it lost 103-90 to the Orlando Magic in Game Six of the Eastern Conference finals.

We must remember that Lebron James refused to talk with reporters or Orlando players after the encounter, provocating an angry reaction in the press.

Cavs got another victory against Pistons as LeBron inspires the tribune

The talented LeBron James had another inspired now. The Cleveland Cavaliers got then an important 79-68 victory over the Detroit Pistons.

In this particular game, James had 25 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists, helping the Cavs achieve a 3-0 lead in the first-round series.

The dangerous Pistons, whose collective heart was questioned by one of their players, played hard for three-plus quarters before being rendered helpless by James.

In fact, He had an alley-oop slam midway through the fourth quarter during an 18-2 run that started after the sixth tie of the game.

But the King had help, getting a career playoff-high 19 points and 10 rebounds from Joe Smith, and 13 points from Zydrunas Ilgauskas.

We must say that the Pistons will host Game 4 on Sunday. They need a really huge change in their strategy and in their luck to revert the situation now.

Indeed, Pistons coach Michael Curry said the Pistons needed both Rasheed Wallace and Tayshaun Prince to play well to have a chance to win, and neither did.

Wallace netted just five points, looking old, banged up and disinterested. Prince scored seven points in the first quarter and was held scoreless the rest of the encounter, laboring with a sore back.

Detroit's extravagant Richard Hamilton had 15 points, eight rebounds and six assists, while Rodney Stuckey contributed 12 points and five assists.

What's more, Antonio McDyess, who had eight points and eight rebounds, lamented the fact that his team went through the motions when it lost the first two matches of the series on the road by an average of 15 points.

Everybody is looking forward to see LeBron beating Kobe and Pau and winning the NBA title. But let's not rush. There are previous stages, you know.

At least LeBron James does know it. That's why he scored 38 points, grabbed eight rebounds and dished out seven assists to help the Cleveland Cavaliers get an important 102-84 win over the Detroit Pistons.

It's fair to add that Joe Smith added 13 points and Zydrunas Ilgauskas had 12 and 10 rebounds for Cleveland.

And Rodney Stuckey didn't want to accept the defeat that easily. He scored 20 and Richard Hamilton contributed 15 for the eighth-seeded Pistons.

Cavaliers are closer and closer to the so expected final, in a season that look extremely promising.

King James unhappy with one All Star

An hour before taking the floor where Kobe Bryant scored an arena-record 61 points two nights ago, King James had a lot on his mind. One topic about which he did not mince words: The Cavaliers getting slighted with only one All-Popular player in voting by fans and coaches.

"I must say that’s totally disrespectful to give us one All Star," James expressed in the Madison Square Garden interview room before Cleveland played the Knicks Wednesday night. "... You look at all the squads with some of the best records in this league. You look at the Lakers, they have two All Stars. Orlando, two All Stars. Boston, two All Stars. San Antonio, two All Stars. These are all the good squads in the league that have really good records. And then you look at us -- one All Star. So it’s a total smack in the face."

The basketball player who was snubbed, Mo Williams, probably will be selected by commissioner David Stern to replace injured guard Jameer Nelson of Orlando. If Stern wasn't leaning toward selecting Williams over Boston's Ray Allen for Nelson's spot, he probably is now. LeBron knows what newspapers (and websites) the commissioner reads.

Cavs coach Mike Brown expressed he wouldn't ask his fellow coaches whether they voted for Williams; they wouldn't tell him the truth, anyway.

"Guys are gonna say, 'Yeah, I voted for your guy,' but you really don’t know," Brown expressed. "I'll never find out. I just know that our squad should have been more represented, in my opinion. And that’s not to say this person must have been off and that person should have been off. We should have had at least another guy on that squad from the beginning."

LeBron and Ginobili awarded "Players of the Week" in the NBA

Cleveland star LeBron James and Argentine Spurs talent Manu Ginobili were named NBA players of the week on Monday.

Indeed, James won the Eastern Conference award after averaging a triple-double (28.8 points, 12.3 rebounds, 10.5 assists) during the Cavaliers' 3-1 week.

And Ginobili, the West winner, averaged 30.7 points, 6.3 assists and 4.3 rebounds in helping the Spurs win all three of their matches last week.

It's interesting to say that Ginobili, who leads the Spurs in scoring at 20.7 points per game, hit the game-winning jumper against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Feb. 21, to cap a 44-point game.

Cavs outplayed by Rockets

Chinese star Yao Ming scored 22 points and pulled down 12 rebounds as Houston Rockets dumped Cleveland Cavs, 92-77, at the Toyota Center.

What's more, Rafer Alston netted 17 points and nine assists for the Rockets, who have won five straight games.

"This was a superb win against a good team," Rockets coach Rick Adelman admitted. "We were terrific, the second half especially."

Cavs star LeBron James had a game-high 32 points, seven rebounds and six assists for the Cavaliers, who lost for just the fourth time in 17 games. And Larry Hughes finished with 13 points.

In fact, Rockets led by just one at intermission but quickly gained some breathing room thanks to the long ball early in the third quarter. The Rockets hit three treys in the opening three minutes of the frame, the last of which, by Tracy McGrady, scored for Houston and got a 53-44 advantage.

Just seconds later, consecutive threes by Alston and Battier put Houston on top 61-49 with 5:21 left until the fourth quarter.

It's important to notice that the Rockets took a 23-19 advantage after the opening 12 minutes but Cleveland closed the deficit to one, 40-39, by intermission.

James' good performance was not enough against Nets

Veteran star Vince Carter tied a season-high with 32 points as the New Jersey Nets beat the Cleveland Cavaliers, 105-97, to snap a four-game losing streak.

What's more, Richard Jefferson tallied 24 points and Josh Boone had 15 points and eight rebounds for New Jersey, which had also lost three in a row at home.

In fact, Carter shot 13-of-22 from the field and the Nets got help from another good all-around game from their point guard, as talented Jason Kidd had eight points, eight rebounds, 11 assists and five steals.

"This is really exciting to see those guys compete," Carter said of the Nets' bench, especially Boone. "It was a good feeling for me to see him step up, shoot with confidence and make them pay for that."

"We started out the game so well, but the bottom line is we're not defending," Cavaliers coach Mike Brown expressed. "They scored 105 points on 50 percent shooting and they scored it rather easily. Not just that, but we got our behinds kicked on the glass. Every loose ball they came up with."

"King" James' three-pointer pulled the Cavs within 93-92 with 4:08 remaining, but Carter countered with a shot from beyond the arc.

Drew Gooden made 1-of-2 at the foul line with 2:55 left for a 97-95 Cleveland deficit. However, Boone hit 2-of-4 foul shots, and after a LeBron offensive foul, Jefferson's tip-in off a Carter miss moved New Jersey to a 101-95 advantage with 2:02 left.

LeBron suffers from the bench against Bobcats

The NBA was stunned by Saturday's 96-93 Bobcats win over the shorthanded Cleveland Cavaliers. Gerald Wallace had 22 points, five blocks and four steals to help the Charlotte Bobcats snap their seven-game slide and get the victory.

Charlotte Bobcats made 14 free throws in the final minute to post its first win since a 101-92 victory over Portland on November 19.

Sadly, for the fifth consecutive outing, Cavs superstar LeBron James sat out due to his sprained left index finger. In fact, Cleveland has yet to set a return date for the 23-year-old All-Star.

Bobcats built a 62-56 lead with 6:30 left in the third quarter before Ira Newble and Larry Hughes took control for the Cavs, who trailed 69-68 heading into the decisive period. Newble gave Cleveland its first lead of the second half, 74-72, on an easy putback with 9:02 remaining. Newble finished with 15 points off the bench.

Without James, Cavs fall to Celtics in Boston revenge

Even though LeBron James is making a really good season, Cavs have a hard time trying to win when he is sidelined. On Sunday, a sprained left index finger made him miss the clash against Bolton Celtics, and the Cleveland Cavaliers were beaten.

As we know, Ray Allen scored a game-high 20 points to spark an 80-70 victory by the Celtics, who improved to 9-0 at home this season and limited the Cavaliers to their second-lowest points total in a match since the team began play in 1970.

Indeed, Cleveland fell to 9-5 in games without "King James" since the Cavaliers made him the first choice of the 2003 NBA Draft.

"When King James goes down, you feel like you have to carry the squad by yourself offensively," Cavaliers forward Drew Gooden admitted. "We've started to get better at doing that but then again that is not our identity.

It took a 12-3 run by the Cavaliers in the game's final minutes to avoid the humiliation of a new all-time scoring futility record. And Cleveland shot only 32 percent for the encounter, hitting just 25-of-76 shots.

The Boston Celtics led 43-39 at half-time and began the second half with an 18-9 run to seize command.

It's important to mention that Kevin Garnett had nine points and eight rebounds while Paul Pierce added seven for the Celtics, who improved to a league-best 14-2 and went to 9-0 at home for the first time since 1985.

"We're playing some good basketball, and I'm the catalyst of that," LeBron James admitted, after recording back-to-back triple-doubles for the first time in his career. "The best thing about it is that we got our third straight victory. And that's great."

It's also important to mention that Drew Gooden had 23 points and 12 rebounds for reigning Eastern Conference champion Cleveland (8-6) while Sasha Pavlocic chipped in with 22 points.

Also Marquis Daniels scored a season-high 25 points while Jamaal Tinsley had 24 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds, but committed eight turnovers for Indiana (6-8) which had won its last two encounters. Danny Granger finished with 21 points.

Cleveland King was back on the court to score 29 points, and lead seven Cavaliers in double figures to help his team win its seventh straight on Wednesday night. The victim: the Memphis Grizzlies.

Indeed, Cavs defeated Grizzlies 119-96, and we must remember that James was out of Cleveland's 124-100 victory over Sacramento on Tuesday night with back spasms. Now, he connected on 11 of 17 shots from the field. In the third quarter, LeBron James hit his first five shots helping Cleveland build the lead to 33.

As we said, this victory extended the Cavaliers' season-high winning streak. Meanwhile, Memphis, with the league's worst record, lost its second straight and eighth in the past nine.

Furthermore, Zydrunas Ilgauskas scored 18 points for Cleveland, while Larry Hughes had 13. Donyell Marshall had 12, Sasha Pavlovic scored 11, and Drew Gooden and Anderson Varejao netted 10 each.

It's also important to notice that Rudy Gay led Memphis with 24 points, while Pau Gasol finished with 23 points and 10 rebounds. And Stromile Swift cooperated with 11 points.

Memphis team were flat from the start, and that was before James went on his shooting run in the third. For the quarter, James, whose status was a game-time decision because of the back, was 6-for-8 from the field, including 3-for-5 outside the arc. In fact, LeBron James outscored the Grizzlies 15-12 in the period.

Cleveland led 62-51 at the half with 14 points from his most important star. By then four Cavaliers already were in double figures.

We must say that Memphis shot 49 percent from the field in the first half, but that wasn't enough to overcome its nine turnovers that led to 12 Cleveland points, and Cleveland shooting 58 percent.

Memphis' interior defense wasn't the problem in the third, it was trying to stop James. Starting with an 18-foot jumper with 5:31 left, LeBron added scored 15 points, including back-to-back 3-pointers, giving the Cavaliers a 95-62 lead.

James and Wayde face each other in the most atractive NBA game

Tonight's battle between Dwyane Wade and the Miami Heat travel with Cleveland Cavaliers and LeBron James has created a lot of expectation.

Obviously, Miami's offense has been red-hot as of late, scoring at least 90 points in 17 straight games. Let's remember that their burst is the sixth best streak in Miami history.

As for Cleveland Cavaliers, they will resume a five-game homestand with tonight's matchup. Zydrunas Ilgauskas scored 16 points and added a season-high 16 rebounds, as the Cavs routed the Los Angeles Clippers, 94-77 on Wednesday.

It's important to know that Aleksandar Pavlovic also chipped in with 16 points off the bench for the Cavs, who improved to 2-1 on the stand, which ends Sunday against the Lakers. James' team then hits the road for three games.

Larry Hughes had 15 points, Drew Gooden finished with 13 and James ended the night with just 11 points on 4-of-13 shooting for Cleveland. The Cavs currently sits 2 1/2 games behind Detroit for the lead in the Central Division. We can enjoy the game tonight, because it will be really hot.

Billups win the duel against James (and Pistons beat Cavs)

It was not a good game for LeBron, since Chauncey Billups scored 18 points, Chris Webber and Wallace had 15 apiece to help the Pistons beat the Cavaliers 90-78 on Sunday.

Making a really good performance, Billups added 10 assists, Wallace 13 rebounds and the division-leading Pistons won their fifth straight regular-season game over the Cavaliers, who pushed them to seven matches in last year's playoffs.

We must mention that with their third triumph in a row, the Pistons improved to 15-9 outside Michigan's state lines and are the only team in the Eastern Conference with a winning road record.

Cleveland King LeBron James dunked over Tim Duncan with a snarl, an early statement of a rugged night. And by the time it was over, the Cavaliers got out of San Antonio with their first victory in the Alamo City since 1988.

Indeed, James scored 35 points, hitting a key layup and free throw late in the fourth to help snuff a San Antonio rally and lead the Cavaliers to an 88-81 triumph Friday night.

"I believe that for us to become one of the powerhouses, which we've been preaching, we've got to go out there and walk the walk," James admitted.

But we must admit that James' night wasn't as easy as it might have looked.

Actaully the Spurs, one of the dominant home-court teams in the NBA, slashed a 13-point deficit in the fourth down to four and might have won if not for a dismal 18-of-34 effort shooting free throws.

And Tim Duncan finished with 25 points and 12 rebounds and scored 14 points in a five-minute span to spark the rally. But he struggled badly from the line, going 9-for-19.

LeBron James is the king in Cleveland and in the United States Professional Basketball. Indeed, he is the star guard for the Cleveland Cavaliers of the NBA. James was born on December 30, 1984, in Akron, Ohio. His mother, Gloria James, was only 16 at the time. His biological father, Anthony McClelland, was an ex-con uninterested in being a parent for the little child. Gloria raised LeBron on her own, and to this day he goes by her last name.

It's fair to say that life was often a struggle for LeBron and his mother. Gloria battled personal difficulties during much of his childhood. Some of those were brought on by the death of her mother, who passed away when LeBron was an infant. Bouncing between retail and accounting jobs, James' mom was never able to land steady work, and she and LeBron moved from apartment to apartment. The pair got to know all the seedier neighborhoods of Akron, a city of more than 200,000 located less than a hour south of Cleveland.

However, Gloria worked hard to be a loving mother and shield LeBron from the poverty and violence of the streets. This was no easy chore, and at times made her choice of boyfriends seem puzzling. When LeBron was two years old, she started dating Eddie Jackson. In and out of trouble with the law, he went to prison in 1990 for aggravated cocaine trafficking. (In 2002, he pled guilty to mortgage fraud and mail fraud.) Nevertheless LeBron formed a bond with Jackson, and Gloria liked having a guy around who was willing to serve as a father figure. Her brothers, Terry and Curt, also helped out.

As a player, LeBron James showed his talent for basketball at an early age, being the star performer at his catholic high school, St. Vincent-St. Mary High School's basketball club. The young athlete was dubbed Ohio's "Mr. Basketball", was nicknamed King James, and was on the cover of the popular Sports Illustrated publication with the headline being "The Chosen One".

In fact, the Cleveland Cavaliers franchise were the first to sign the young LeBron up to play with them, while he was also signing the lucrative $90 million dollar, 7 year contract with the global corporation Nike. He became the NBA's Rookie of the Year and was credited with getting his team to the NBA playoffs, even though the previous year the Cleveland Cavaliers were one of the worst performers without him.

Like in a movie, LeBron became one of the NBA's most popular and marketable players. In 2006 the Cavaliers made their first playoff appearance since 1998, and LeBron James got a new contract extension worth $60 million that would keep him with the Cavaliers through the 2009-10 season. James played on the 2004 U.S. Olympic team in Athens, and on the U.S. national squad at the 2006 World Championship in Japan.
